Wednesday Happy Wanderers – 14/2/24

Happy Wanderers meet up every Wednesday for a walk and a cafe stop. It’s a very sociable group and we love to warmly welcome new walkers to the group.

It’s not about getting from A to B. It’s about enjoying our surroundings, savouring nature’s gifts, and revelling in joyful, positive company of like-minded others. Walking in nature is so important for our mental, physical and spiritual well-being and helps to reduce stress in all its forms. It really is one of life’s tonics and the effects are amplified when the experience is shared with others who share similar interests and values.

We have 12 different walks which repeat on rotation. They are of varying lengths (some under an hour, others over an hour). So there’s lots of variety and interest and new areas to discover in different seasons. This particular week we meet in the Car Park at The Angel Inn (Maesycwmmer). Try to park at the lower end towards Viaduct Road so that the inn’s patrons have somewhere to park at the top end. We walk across the viaduct into the Nelson end of Parc Cwm Darran and then weave back to Ystrad Mynach park and then into the town centre to stop for a light lunch / refreshments at Cwm Bakery. We then walk back to Maesycwmmer. This is one of the slightly longer walks, so put aside 2-2.5 hours in total.

PLEASE NOTE: If the weather is too wet or severe, the walk is cancelled and we move onto the next destination the following week.
